Ghana Journalists Association to hold forum on responsible media

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) says it will on May 10, 2012 hold a forum on how the media can be responsible in its work as the country approaches the 2012 elections.

The forum is on the theme “The Strategies of the NMC For Free , Fair and Responsible Media in an Election Year”

It will provide the National Media Commission (NMC) a platform to tell Ghanaians about the programmes that it is putting in place to promote a free, fair and responsible media in an election year, according to a statement signed by the GJA’s General Secretary Bright Blewu.

The event will also allow participants to seek clarifications and make inputs into such programmes. The lead presenter for the forum with the NMC is Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, the Chairman for the Commission, with Professor Esi Sutherland of the Institute of African Studies and a pioneer member of the NMC as the Chairperson, the statement indicated.

Participants are expected from civil society organizations, media, political parties and other state institutions, it added.
