US Exim Bank lends Ghana $155.4m to finance Ridge Hospital expansion

stethoscopeThe US Export-Import Bank (Exim Bank) has approved a $155.4 million direct loan for Ghana to finance the design and construction of the Ridge Hospital expansion, the bank announced January 14, 2013.

According to the Exim Bank, HSBC London and New York Project & Export Finance teams acted as financial advisor to the Ghana government.

The bank’s Chairman and President Fred P. Hochberg said the transaction will ensure “Ghana can provide better healthcare to its people and in the process support hundreds of US jobs in a key sector.”

US-based Americaribe Incorporated, according to officials will export the goods and services required in the expansion project.

When completed, the Ridge Hospital will number among the most advanced medical facilities in West Africa and will include a new 420-bed building housing a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment block and a state-of-the-art maternity ward, according to the Exim Bank.
