Ghana Police worries over perceived corruption

The Police Administration has expressed worry over the perceived corruption in the Service, and the involvement of some  personnel in violent crimes such as armed robbery.

It has, therefore, cautioned recruits joining the service to exhibit professionalism to redeem its image.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Reverend David Ampah-Benin, Director-General/Public Affairs Directorate, gave the warning at a passing-out parade for 92 recruits at the Police Training School in Koforidua on Thursday.

He said the Police Administration was determined to weed out  miscreants and criminals “masquerading in police uniforms”.

DCOP Ampah-Benin told the recruits that much was expected from them, having gone through a successful training in criminal law, criminal procedure and investigation, law of evidence, acts and decrees, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and service instructions, among other topics.

According to him, the training covered all aspects needed by the Police Service, to instill discipline and professionalism in its personnel.

Four recruits who distinguished themselves during the training were presented with awards.

Gilbert Kwaku Padi emerged as the over-all best recruit, Samuel Awuku, best in conduct, Enock Ayambala, best in training and Seth Agyei, best in drill.
