President Mahama orders release of counterpart funding for Ho University
President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Finance to release the counterpart funding for the construction of projects on the campus of Ho University of Health and Allied Sciences.
He also appealed to the Chinese Company working on the project to expedite action to ensure that they are executed within the stipulated 19 months timeline.
President Mahama gave the directive when he inspected building projects on the University’s campus on Saturday as part of his two-day official visit to the Volta Region.
During his stay the Region, President Mahama would inspect projects, initiate new ones and inaugurate those that have been completed.
President Mahama said the execution of the Ho University project had vindicated late President John Evans Atta Mills from the initial public pessimism.
Works in progress include an administration block, lecture halls, laboratories and libraries.
President Mahama said government would work around the clock to ensure that the project is executed to facilitate teaching and learning.
He said the Ministry of Roads and Highways would work on the roads leading to and within the campus.
The President said while waiting for major water works to be installed on the campus, the few boreholes that had been drilled would be mechanised to produce adequate water for the progress of work and domestic activities.
President Mahama would visit on-going projects at the Ho Central Market, Nkwanta, Aflao, Keta, Denu, Dabala and other areas.
