Resolve FDA-Tobinco issue amicably – Anglican Bishop

drugsThe Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Rt. Rev. Francis Benjamin Quarshie has appealed to Parliament and Government to intervene and ensure quick and amicable settlement of the issue between the Food And Drugs Authority (FDA) and Tobinco Pharmaceutical Company to help restore confidence in the business community.

He said challenges often emerged in the practice of responsible business, but the most important issue to society was how early the issue was resolved in the best interest of all stakeholders.

Bishop Quarshie advised the business community to learn to “play the game according to  rules” to help avoid  unnecessary tension in the business community.

This was contained in the new year message of Bishop Quarshie which was issued at Koforidua on the eve of the year.

The Bishop called on the government to withdraw the bill on the Genetically Modified  Food at Parliament to allow  enough public discussion  and education on the issue.

He called on Ghanaians to work together to help fight corruption in the country in the new year.

Bishop Quarshie  explained that , often when issues of corruption cropped up, people often point accusing fingers to politicians but evidence on the ground indicated that, corruption cuts across the society even in the church.

He called on Ghanaians to wait on the Lord and to pray for God’s guidance for the political leadership of the country to come out with policies and programmes that would meet the aspirations of the citizens of the country in the new year.
