Vice President John Mahama sworn-in as President of Ghana
The Vice President of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama has been sworn-in by Parliament as the President of Ghana following the death of the President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
Mr. Mahama was sworn into office Tuesday evening July 24, 2012 at Parliament House Accra. He took the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice Theodora Georgina Wood as required under Article 66 of Ghana’s Constitution.
He will serve the remaining term of the departed President which ends December 7, 2012.
The President who has been ill for some time died this afternoon at the 37 Military Hospital where he had gone for treatment.
He is survived by a wife and a son.
