NDC sure to win run-off elections – Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has predicted that it would win the December 28 presidential elections.

“We are counting on the co-operation of all Ghanaians irrespective of their political background to give us the mandate, so as to salvage the nation from its current socio-economic predicament,” Mr John Dramani Mahama, the vice-presidential candidate of the NDC, said in a brief interaction with newsmen in Kumasi at the weekend.

He said now that the NDC was commanding majority in Parliament it was incumbent on the part of Ghanaians to also give them the nod in the presidential race.

Mr Mahama said the party has intensified its campaign especially at the grassroots to solicit for their votes, saying once the NDC had captured seven out the 10 regions in the country, it was obvious that come December 28, the presidential seat would be theirs to compliment the Party’s majority in Parliament.

He said with the exception of the Akwatia and Asufiti South constituencies which encountered some problems, the elections was free, fair and peaceful and hoped the December 28 elections would be the same.

The vice-presidential candidate called on supporters and sympathizers of the NDC to turn up in their numbers as they did in the first round and exercise their franchise for a total victory for Professor John Atta-Mills and the party.

Mr Mahama commended the media for the role played in ensuring peace during and after the elections and was optimistic that they would continue to educate Ghanaians on the need to live in peace and tolerate each other.
