Vice-Admiral Owusu-Ansah is dead
The death has been reported of Vice-Admiral E. O. Owusu-Ansah.
The man who was appointed by President Mills as caretaker Defence Minister was reported dead in Accra Sunday morning January 18, 2009, the cause of death has not yet been made known.
Vice-Admiral Owusu-Ansah who served in the Ghana Army for 37 years once served as Chief of Naval Staff in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration headed by former President Rawlings from 1996 to 2001.
He also once served as an Associate Executive Director of the African Security Dialogue and Research (ASDR).
Vice Admiral Owusu-Ansah was among the first to be appointed by President Mills to play supervisory roles until substantive ministers are appointed in his new government. The others are Tobgui Afede Aso for the finance ministry with former deputy finance Minister Moses Asaga and Kwabena Duffuor former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, as the other members.
Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah was appointed for National Security, with Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni heading the Interior Ministry.
