Ghanaian air crew member remanded on drugs charge
The Ghanaian crew member of Ghana International Airline who was arrested for carrying cocaine at Gatwick Airport in the UK has been remanded in custody to reappear at another court, British media has reported.
The man, 30-year-old Kwaku Asante Ayirebi was charged in court for attempting to smuggle cocaine with an estimated street value of £98,000.
UK Border Agency (UKBA) officials found the drugs, weighing about two kilos in baggage on the flight from Accra.
The Mid-Sussex Magistrates’ Court remanded him in custody when he appeared before it. He will appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court September 2, 2009.
