Media asked to monitor distribution of school uniforms
Journalists have been asked to assist the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in monitoring the distribution of exercise books and school uniforms to primary school and Junior High School children in the region.
Mr. Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, who made the call, said “I will like to urge the press to follow up and ensure that every child receive a book and very poor pupils benefited from the government’s free school uniforms”.
Mr. Amenowode was handing over 1,000 school uniforms and 474,000 exercise books to the Regional Education Directorate for distribution to school children in the region, at the launch of the programme in Ho.
He said: “These books are not to be sold, so I do not expect to see any in the markets or bookshops” and asked the Education Directorate to give the school uniforms to poor school children.
A total of 620,000 pupils would receive free exercise books in the region and 130,000 school uniforms would be distributed to poor pupils in the region.
