Mobile phone users in Egypt increase

The number of mobile phone subscribers in Egypt rose form 52.978 million to 53.682 million in November 2009, the Reuters report.

The report citing an Egyptian government website said more than one million accounts have been created every month since late 2009. The information also indicated that some 450,000 accounts were closed during October of the same year, adding that some 704,000 accounts were created.

In 2008, there were 37.626 million subscribers, the government-run Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Centre said on its website (www.eip.gov.eg).
