Driver arrested for drunk driving
A 25-year-old Agent of Multi Television, Bernard Brew, has been arrested by the Asante-Mampong police for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Benjamin Gyasi, Commander of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit, said the suspect was arrested by the Police at a barrier mounted at Bosofor on the Kumasi-Mampong road.
Brew was spotted speeding with his Opel Vectra car and recklessly overtaking a long queue of vehicles which nearly resulted in an accident in the process.
DSP Gyasi said the suspect was reeking of alcohol and a search also uncovered a bottle of “Castle Bridge gin”, an alcoholic drink, in his car.
Tests carried on him by the Asante-Mampong District Hospital showed that his alcohol intake level was above what is considered safe for driving.
He said Brew would be arraigned as soon as the police are through with their investigation.
