Female student remanded for fraud

A final year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Miss Rose Ohene Asante, has been remanded to re-appear before a Takoradi district magistrate court for fraud.

Her plea was not taken and would re-appear on February 03, 2010.

Detective Inspector Nana Gyebi told the court that on November 6 last year, the accused forged letter heads of Saah and Company Limited and introduced herself as the Receiver Manager of the company.

She attempted to defraud Seaweld Engineering Services Company and others all based in Takoradi.

Mr Jacob Saah was alerted that some individuals were using documents of the company to defraud and he alerted the police.

She also introduced herself to some banks in the sekondi-Takoradi metropolis and attempted to get them to transfer GH¢70,000 into a private account.

The prosecutor said the banks alerted the police and was arrested when she showed up.
