Government urged not to use foreign funds to manage disasters
Mr Nick Afari-Arthur of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) at Nsawam-Aburi Constituency, on Tuesday advised government not to spend foreign inflows to manage disasters.
He said such resources, which sometimes constituted loans must be channeled into productive economic sectors to spur growth and improve the lives of people.
Mr Afari-Arthur gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during a discussion organised for party members on the upcoming constituency election at Nsawam.
He said the provision of building materials, blankets, food and other things could be borne locally by government and other philanthropic organisations to ease the pressure on the foreign funds.
Mr Afari-Arthur urged party members not to be influenced by politicians, who tried to influence voters with money.
He urged constituency party executives to work hard towards the 2012 elections.
