UT Bank supports Black Stars
UT Bank, one of Ghana’s indigenous banking institution, has opened an account worth GH¢1,000 for each member of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
In addition, each member of the technical team will have an account with the bank worth GH¢500.
The gesture was in recognition of the performance of the Black Stars at the just ended Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in South Africa.
The Black Stars were quarter finalists in the competition and bowed out through a penalty shootout in the game against Uruguay.
Captain Budu Koomson, Chief Operating Officer of the Bank, said the decision to reward the players with a special account in the bank was to appreciate the “pain” they went through in defending the flag of Ghana and the continent.
He said the amount would serve as seed money for the players to build on their financial fortunes for the future.
Captain Budu Koomson said plans were in place to have further business deals with the national team.
Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said his outfit was pleased with the warm reception from Ghanaians on arrival from South Africa.
He said the GFA would continue to build on the relationship and trust of Ghanaians by ensuring the best performance from the team in future tournaments.
Stephen Appiah, captain of the Black Stars, also expressed appreciation to the bank for their support.
He said the team was prepared to go the extra mile in lifting the flag of Ghana high.
Appiah later received a plaque on behalf of the team from the bank.
