ABL makes new appointments
The management of Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), Ghana’s premier brewery, on Thursday, announced two strategic appointments in the brewery and its sister company, Voltic Ghana Limited.
A statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency said, Mr Philip Norley had been appointed Sales and Marketing Director, taking over from Mr Chris Wulff-Caesar, Marketing Director.
Mr Wulff-Caesar has been posted to SABMiller Africa Office as the Category Expansion Officer for Africa.
It said Mr Michael Effah, had been appointed Sales and Distribution Director of Voltic Ghana.
Mr Norley, an Englishman, joined SABMiller in 1998 as Marketing Director in Romania and subsequently lived and worked in Mozambique, Vietnam and Britain in various senior Sales, Marketing and Operations roles for the Group.
He is credited with extensive international experience even before joining the SABMiller Group, having worked for Kellogg’s and Reynolds across Western Europe, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union.
A lover of current affairs, soccer and travelling, Mr Norley said he was highly motivated by the new challenge of working in West Africa for the first time.
“As Sales, Marketing and Distribution Director I plan to bring our exciting three-year strategic plan to life in the market place and in our brand and communication development. In essence, to continue to be “market facing and brand led” and bring together our commercial functions to act as one with a clearly defined set of priorities and goals,” he said.
Mr Effah, who now becomes the Sales and Distribution Director at ABL’s sister company, Voltic Ghana Limited, joined the brewery in 1998 as a Brand Manger, rising to become the company’s Sales Director since 2007.
He is upheld by ABL as having been instrumental in the team which conducted the successful restructuring of the brewery’s distribution network.
Ahead of assuming his new post which takes effect on September 1, 2010, Mr Effah has stressed that his primary goal at Voltic would be to stimulate the water company’s impressive growth trend by leveraging on the vast experience acquired from ABL over the years.
