Woman fined GH¢180 for littering road

Community Centre Court ‘B’ in Accra on Thursday imposed a fined of GH¢180.00 on Joyce Osei, trader, for littering the road near the Tema Lorry Station, Accra, with ice water sachet.

The convict, who would go to jail for six months in hard labour in default, pleaded guilty.

Mr Nii Okine Aryee of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Public Health Department told the court that on Thursday at about 0900 hours, the AMA Plastic Waste Taskforce went to the station on its normal rounds.

He said a member of the taskforce saw the accused littering the road with sachet after drinking ice water.

Mr Aryee said the accused, who assaulted the taskforce member for reprimanding her for littering the road, was arrested.
