Kwahu South spends more than GH¢1m on development projects
The Kwahu South District Assembly has spent GH¢1,184,900 for the past one-and-half years to complete 28 development projects to improve the living standard of the people.
The projects include construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks, rehabilitation of a guest house and assembly hall, building of a number of places of convenience, boreholes, wells and markets.
The projects were financed from the assembly’s share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund, donor agencies and the internally generated fund (IGF).
Mr Joseph Omari, District Chief Executive, made this known when he addressed the third ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the assembly at Mpraeso on Thursday.
He said a number of development projects worth millions of Ghana cedis are on- going and expected to be completed in the next two years.
Mr Omari said the assembly was able to mobilise GH¢160,250 from its IGF as at the end of September as against the projected annual revenue of GH¢223,927.45, representing 72 per cent and expressed the hope that by the end of the year it would exceed its annual projected income.
The Presiding Member of the assembly, Mr Frank Ofosu Kissi, commended his colleagues and the heads of department for their co-operation and support towards the assembly’s development.
He urged the assemblymen to continue to offer meaningful contributions towards the development of the assembly although their term of office had ended.
