First ever baby to toddler festival slated March 2011
A first ever baby-to-toddler event to showcase and celebrate the beauty of motherhood and the art of parenting, is to be held from March 25 to March 27 next year in Ghana.
Dubbed “BabyFEST” it comes in three signature events, namely a pageant (The PUSH), a summit (BabySUMMIT) and a fair (BabyFAIR).
BabyFEST aims to engage prospective parents, new parents, baby lovers to celebrate everything baby to toddler, using recreation, education and healthy interactive activities.
A statement signed by Ms Esi Yankah, the Chief Executive Officer of Ticklz N’ Gigglz, organisers of the event, said, “This is going to be the most sought after baby and toddler event ever to be celebrated annually in Ghana.”
She said BabyFEST, supported by the Ministry of Health and partnering with major local and international organization and the media, further aimed to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals by reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, promoting gender equality and empowering women.
Ms Yankah said BabyFEST will support the “Saving Mama” Campaign by Empower Ghana, which aims to facilitate timely access to skilled medical attendants and services to underprivileged mothers in the underserved rural and urban areas by helping to provide bicycle ambulances for the communities.
She said BabyFEST would also launch a campaign to raise the awareness of pre-mature babies in communities and medical malpractices, which had caused the death of many mothers during childbirth.
