GRA-Customs Division at Airport commended
The Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Major General Carl Modey, has commended customs’ officers at the Kotoka Airport whose diligence led to the detection of $10,000, nine pistols and 850 rounds of ammunition sometime earlier this year.
Major General Modey made the commendation on Wednesday when he toured the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
“You have made the Customs Division proud for this feat. Keep it up and continue to work diligently,” he said.
Major General Modey said having visited most collections, he had become aware of the challenges facing staff, adding “in-spite of all these challenges you continue to put in your best.”
The Commissioner said customs officers always ensured that annual revenue targets were met and gave the assurance that their working environment and conditions would be improved.
A number of clearing agents, who Major General Modey interacted with, complained about delays in valuing in-coming goods at the Airport.
The clearing agents said at the moment, only one company was responsible for the valuation known as the final Classification and Verification Report.
Major General Modey promised to carry the concerns of the agents up to the relevant authorities and ensure that something was done about it to enhance operations at the Airport.
