National Service Scheme Board denies media reports on audit unit
The Board of Directors of the Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS) has denied media report s alleging untoward activities in the Internal Audit Unit of the GNSS.
In a statement issued by the Board signed by its Secretary, Mr Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr, the Board said “The GNSS since October, 2009 has had in place a team of five senior accounting officers seconded to it from the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department on request”.
The statement said “The team, headed by a Chief Accountant and three other chartered accountants, has among other responsibilities, preparation of all payment vouchers” and that “at no time has this responsibility been taken over by anyone in the Internal Audit Unit as alleged.”
It further stated that “There has been no transfer of any Internal Auditor from the Internal Audit Unit of the Scheme as alleged”.
It explained that “On the issue of staff qualification, the Scheme follows the approved Public Service procedures and criteria in its placement exercises based on relevant academic and professional records as well as competencies made available to it.
