Government urged to address Single Spine Pay Policy now
The newly elected President of the Civil And Local Government Staff Association (CLOSGAG), Alhaji Mahamadou Azonko, has called on government to as a matter of urgency address the single spine pay policy of civil servants.
He was delivering his acceptance speech at the just ended 11th Quadrennial National Delegates Congress of (CLOSGAG) at the University of Cape Coast on Friday.
The five-day congress was held on the theme: “The relationship between the civil servant and the politician in both Central and Local Government”.
Others elected were; Evans Agbeme Dzikum as Vice President, Mr. Appiah Sarpong, Treasurer, Mr. Eugene Koranteng Henaku, Mr. Kwame Asamoah Dwomo and Madam Adjele Mensa Amoako as trustees of the Association.
Alhaji Azonko entreated his colleagues to step up productivity in their various ministries, departments and agencies to encourage government to address their concerns with dispatch.
Later, an eight point resolution drawn, called among others, for an immediate redress of concerns of CLOSGAG on the single spine pay policy and new pension scheme, CLOSGAG move to use legitimate means to ensure their right to negotiation and salary adjustments of the Association to be reflected from 1st January 2010.
It also called on the government to institute an award scheme for retired civil servants and also ensure free medical care for them. The various ministries, departments and agencies should also be adequately resourced for the effective discharge of their duties.
