PNC calls for a befitting national monument for Dr Limann
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of People’s National Convention (PNC), has appealed to President John Evans Atta Mills to establish a befitting National Monument in memory of the late President Dr. Hilla Limann.
The appeal was made in a statement signed by Mr Basili Wasai, the IMC Chairman to commemorate the 13th anniversary celebration of the death of Dr Hilla Limann, President of Ghana’s Third Republic (September 1979 to December 31, 1981) who was overthrown by Former President Jerry John Rawlings in a coup d-etat.
It said, “Dr Limann was a President who believed in the principles of real democracy, freedom for the ordinary person and accountability of public officers.
“His ideology was Ghana and his vision was to transform Ghana into a healthy and happy welfare State for everybody,” it added.
The statement said, “We in the PNC re-affirm our commitment to accept the beliefs of Dr Limann, and the challenges that go with them. A wind of change is blowing fiercely in our great party and there is no room for pseudo-Nkrumahists or Limannists who harbour other selfish interests or motives and do not cherish our sacred article of faith and motto – Service with Honesty.”
