Techiman MTTU Commander commits suicide
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Iddrisu, officer in-charge of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit in Techiman, is alleged to have committed suicide in his kitchen at Takofiano in Techiman on Tuesday.
Iddrisu, who was transferred to Techiman last year, allegedly committed the act when his pregnant wife had sent their four children to school.
A close source told newsmen the wife returned home to meet her husband’s absence and as she needed the keys to their room, followed up to the MTTU office to collect it from him.
The source said the wife found that the husband had not reported for work as at about 0900 hours so one of the police officers accompanied her to their residence and broke the kitchen door.
They found Iddrisu had hanged himself using a nylon rope.
His wife collapsed and was taken to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman.
Chief Superintendent Joseph Antwi Gyawu, Municipal Police Commander, confirmed the incident.
