Suhum District Insurance Scheme registers more people

The Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme had ended a one-and-half-month special exercise to register people in the rural areas.

The District manager of the scheme, Mr Stephen Kafui, told the GNA that the exercise which started on December 01 last year ended on January 14 and that over 7,000 people were registered in eight communities in the district.

This brings the total number of people registered in the district to 160,000.

Mr Kafui mentioned the communities to include Teacher Mante, Anum Apapam, Akorabo, Amanase, Coaltar, Kofi Pare and Omenako.

He said the special registration exercise became necessary to help register more people who due to transportation difficulties could not go to Suhum to do the registration.

Mr Kafui said members of the scheme were divided into two groups and visited the communities early in the mornings to register the people through the help of their chiefs, opinion leaders and Assembly and Unit Committee members.

He said those registered were given two weeks to collect their scheme cards.
