Kotoko scout for players at CHAN
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has sent an agent to monitor the on-going African Nations Championship in Sudan to identify more quality players for possible signing to play for the Club.
Mr Benjamin Nti, Administrative Manager of the Club, said they are determined to beef up the team’s strength as their rebuilding efforts gathers momentum.
He told the GNA Sports in Kumasi that for now they are looking for more potent attackers, left wingers and quality and dependable defenders to beef up the team.
“The Board and Management are being cautious in the recruitment of players because they want to avoid the past mistake of en masse hiring, where many of them eventually became redundant.”
Mr Nti spoke of series of friendly football matches that Kotoko have lined up against teams like Tema Youth, Olympics and B.A. Stars to keep the players in good shape before the commencement of the Premier League.
The Club will also host Africa Sports of Cote d’Ivoire in an international friendly, which is expected to be graced by His Majesty the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Touching on sponsorship, Mr Nti said they have so far struck deals with Interplast Company Limited, Smart TV and Scancom Ghana Limited, operators of MTN, to give the team some financial backing.
They would also soon sign an agreement with International Energy Insurance (IEI) to provide insurance cover to both the playing body and the technical staff.
Mr Nti counseled the teeming supporters of the Porcupine Warriors to remain calm and to give every needed support to the Board and Management as they work hard to transform and return Kotoko to its once all-conquering and fearsome form.
