Cocoa thief fined GH¢5000

A Tarkwa Circuit Court has fined Waham Dinko, a 31 year old farmer, GH¢5000 for stealing seven bags of cocoa.

In default, Dinko, who pleaded guilty, would serve 12 months imprisonment.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that on February 1 this year, the accused was seen conveying seven bags of cocoa belonging to Mr Ofosu Appiah, the complainant, to a secret location at Pentecost in Wassa Amenfi.

The prosecutor said an eye-witness who caught Dinko in the act reported it to the complainant.
