Top UK official to visit Ghana
A top United Kingdom government official will visit Ghana from February 17-19, 2011 as part of a one week tour to the sub-region.
According to a press release issued by the British High Commission in Accra and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com on February 15, 2011, Mr Henry Bellingham who is UK’s Minister for Africa will pay a courtesy call on His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills to discuss how to improve and promote commercial ties between the UK and Ghana and to encourage Ghana’s continued progress along its current positive democratic and economic paths.
Mr Bellingham will have talks with Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, other high ranking ministers, political leaders and members of the business community as well as paying a familiarisation visit to Blue Skies, a British company with operations in Ghana.
“The key themes of the visit are to improve and promote commercial ties between the UK and Ghana, as part of the wider UK-Ghana bilateral relationship, and to encourage Ghana’s continued progress along its current positive democratic and economic paths”, the release said.
During the visit, Mr Bellingham will deliver a speech at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) on the subject “Shared Prosperity, Shared Security and Shared Values: A Solid Foundation for the Future”.
This is his first visit to West Africa, the release said.
