Police Personnel prepared to beef up security in Bawku
One hundred and twenty Police personnel drawn from Brong Ahafo, Eastern and Greater Accra Regions have undergone orientation at the Police Training School in Pwalugu in the Upper East Region to take up operation in Bawku.
DCOP John Kudalor, Director General of Operations, said the programme was to equip personnel on the rudiments of operations, weapon handling and other operation guidelines to enable them to take over from their counterparts currently in Bawku for the next three months.
He said another badge of hundred personnel from the military and Police were on standby to counter any eventuality in Bawku.
This was contained in a statement release to the press in Bolgatanga and signed by Mr. Thomas Agbanyo, Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service in Bolgatanga.
DCOP Kudalor said government and the police administration sought the welfare of the personnel, urging them to be up and doing in their work.
He observed that malfeasance on the part of personnel detailed for operations had reduced drastically and praised his subordinates for the high morale they exhibited as they prepared for operations in Bawku.
He said a full dormitory would soon be completed with modern amenities and handed over to the operational men in the area.
Mr. Bright Oduro, Upper East Regional Police Commander, called on the men to be duty-conscious to sustain the peace in the area.
He warned them to protect themselves and their riffles, and to avoid sleeping during duty hours and above all respect their senior officers.
He advised them to eschew malingering, feigning of sickness and asking their friends and family members to send messages demanding their release to return home to solve problems.
Kwaku Adamu, District Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Lance Corporal Joseph Addai of the Armoured Car Squadron were the resource persons for the orientation.
