GABF to stage Inter-Club Amateur Boxing Championship

The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) will stage an Inter-Club Championship in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to unearth talents for the national team.

The Championship, fixed for March 8-12, will be held at the Sports Hall of the Ohene-Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.

Mr Dominic Kankam, acting General Secretary of GABF told the Ghana News Agency Sports that the Championship was the first in the series of regional tours planned by the Federation for talent identification.

He said it would also serve as a platform for boxers in the region to assess themselves and to hone their boxing skills ahead of the National Sports Festival and other major international tournaments.

The event dubbed: “Independence Cup” is also in commemoration of Ghana’s 54th Independence Anniversary under the sponsorship of Global Voice Group and Voltic Mineral Water.

Mr Kankam said there would be attractive prizes for outstanding performers and urged participants to put in their best.
