Bright Addae not coming for Meteors-Sudan game
Black Meteors Central defender Bright Addae has been ruled out of this weekend’s London 2012 Olympic Games qualifier against Sudan in Accra.
The 18-year old defender currently on loan at Spanish third division outfit Terrassa from Italian Serie A side, Parma was one of two foreign-based players invited for the first round first leg clash.
Black Meteors trainer David Duncan told GNA Sports on Tuesday after the team’s training session at the Ohene Djan sports stadium that the ex-Wa All Stars rearguard is not coming for the crucial clash.
“Addae is not coming due to complications beyond our control. We only have Samuel Afum as the only foreign-based player for the game.”
Coach Duncan said that the lanky defender with his experience with the Black Satellites would have given him further options at the backline but added that he has equally good players who can make up for the void.
He explained that his decision to invite only two foreign-based players stems from the fact that Clubs were not obliged to release their players, whilst some eligible players are on a similar assignment with the Black Stars in Brazzaville against Congo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Midfielder Andre Ayew, Samuel Inkoom, Jonathan Mensah, Daniel Opare, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Dominic Adiyiah, all eligible for the Black Meteors are with the Black Stars on their training tour of Kenya.
The Black Meteors travel to Khartoum in a fortnight for the return leg.
