Navrongo Senior High gets face lift
Completed works involving the renovation of five key projects of the Navrongo Senior High School (NAVASCO) valued at about GH¢1.3 million were on Tuesday handed over to the management of the school at Navrongo.
The projects which included a two storey administration block, twelve unit two storey classroom blocks, two two-storey dormitory for girls and one two-storey dormitory for boys were simultaneously handed over at the school by the contractors and a team of consultants from the Architectural Engineering Services Limited (AESL).
The Tono and Slessor houses hosted in a two-storey girls’ dormitory block was built in the 1960s by Kasadjan construction firm and was renovated to meet modern infrastructural standards at the cost of about GH¢220,668 by Eborics Company Limited.
Gakoka Enterprise renovated the one storey administration block together with the staff common room at the cost of GH¢263,563.41.
Two storey boys’ dormitory hosting the Garvey and Abatey houses, two bedroom apartments for two residential masters’ flats were renovated at the cost of GH¢341,394.24.
According to Mr Joseph Boamah, Regional AESL Engineer, the cost of renovating the classroom block was GH¢205,387.00.
Mr Patrick Tangonyire, Headmaster of the school, thanked government for the projects saying, “we are beginning to see the Better Ghana promised us as Ghanaians” and expressed the hope that the school would be given more support.
Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, commended the contractors for good work done by giving the school a new look over a matter of seven weeks and called on other contractors in the region to emulate the good works of the builders.
He asked the school to take very good care of the projects saying he would not tolerate any student hooliganism and that any student who vandalizes school property would be made to pay for the cost of the damage.
