Women groups commended for ranking neck-and-neck with men
The Reverend Hayford Dwamena Asirifi, Dormaa District Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has commended women groups in the Church for striving to attain their objectives and for ranking neck-and-neck with their male counterparts.
He, however, urged the women to venture into areas considered by society as the preserve of men and to initiate projects that would help to uplift their image and that of the girl-child.
Rev. Asirifi was preaching at Nsesereso near Dormaa-Ahenkro at the climax of a three-day conference for women in the church at Dormaa, under the theme: “Women – Light of Society”.
He noted that the ideal woman was one who was capable of blending her social, spiritual and material responsibilities in adequate proportions to ensure that her positive attributes were exposed for other women to emulate.
Rev. Asirifi appealed to the women to train their children to conform with the teachings of the Bible so that they would become morally upright leaders.
Nana Brafo Ababio, chief of Nsesereso, lauded the women for organising the conference and expressed the hope that it would impact positively on the spiritual well-being of women in the area.
He called on women to assist their husbands in the education of their children.
Monica Adu Bediako, District President of the women group, appealed to men to support women to progress instead of leaving them to their fate.
