NYEP boss to contest NDC primaries of Chiana-Paga constituency
Mr Abuga Pele, National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), has declared his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries of the Chiana-Paga Constituency in the Upper East Region.
He attributed the failure of the party to win the seat in 2008 to disunity in the party in the constituency and appealed to the executives to unite for victory in 2012.
Mr Pele made his intention known to the NDC constituency executives on Saturday when he interacted with them at Nayagnia near Navrongo.
He thanked the executives for supporting him when he contested as a parliamentary candidate in the constituency in 2008 and lost.
Mr Pele said if he wins the seat he would ensure the development of the area and empower women and the youth to undertake profitable economic ventures.
He said that “The area, in the past has lagged behind in development. I have established links with a lot of development partners both nationally and internationally and I will impress upon them to assist in complementing government projects”.
The Constituency Chairman, Mr Kojo Kopanamo, advised all aspirants of the primaries to put the interest of the party ahead of their personal interest.
He asked aspirants who might lose the primaries to support the victors to enable the NDC win the seat in 2012.
Mr Kopanamo said the party would have won the seat in 2008 if a member of the party had not contested as an independent candidate.
