NYEP trainees receive sewing machines, accessories
A total of 53 dressmakers in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District who have completed their training under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) were yesterday presented with sewing machines and its accessories at Twifo Praso.
They have completed six months training in dress making under the NYEP.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr Joseph Foster Andoh, DCE for the District said the NYEP is a non political organization and the dressmakers were not selected on political lines.
He said the youth in the district should feel free to show interest in the programme to upgrade themselves.
Mr Andoh advised the beneficiaries not to sell the machines but to use them for the purpose it was given.
Mr Andoh disclosed that the government is constructing 18 unit classrooms, boy’s and girl’s dormitories for Twifo Praso Senior High School.
The beneficiaries commended the government for sustaining the NYEP programme and were of the view that their conditions of living will soon improve.
Nana Arthur the district co-coordinator said about 500 youths in the area have registered with the programme.
