Businessman murdered in cold blood on Good Friday
Tragedy struck the residents of West Tanokrom, near Takoradi on Good Friday when a 55-year-old businessman, Mr Issah Salifu, was savagely murdered at home.
The Takoradi District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dela Dzansi, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi on Saturday.
DSP Dzansi said the deceased was attacked at his residence by some masked men at about 12:05 hours on April 22, 2011 and was stabbed several times on the head and face.
Surprisingly, he said, the assailants did not take any item from the room thus giving an indication that they came purposely to kill him.
DSP Dzansi said the assailants struggled with the deceased for sometime thereby attracting the attention of the deceased’s son who was also sleeping in another room but when he attempted to come out to assist his father, one of the assailants pointed a gun at him warning him to stay away or get killed.
DSP Dzansi said after the assailants had left the house, the son called his mother on phone and both went to the Takoradi Central Police Station and reported the crime.
He said the corpse had been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for autopsy.
The Takoradi District Police Commander said so far no one had been arrested but the police was working around the clock to solve the murder.
