Pastor asks Ghanaians not to shield corrupt public officials

The Head of the South West Ghana Baptist Convention, Reverend Dr Isaac Mills-Owoo has asked Ghanaians to expose corrupt public officials in order to facilitate socio-economic growth.

Making the request in an Easter Message, after a three-Day Convention organised by the Cape Coast Association of the Ghana Baptist Convention at Kakumdo, near Cape Coast, he urged politicians to replace selfishness and greed with true love and concern for the need of humanity, particularly those who voted them into power.

Politicians, he said, should stop abusing their office for financial and personal gains, adding that public officials who were at the helm of affairs should set better examples for others to follow.

Rev Mills-Owoo noted that the resurrection of Jesus Christ gave a living hope to humanity and called on Christians to apply the principles of selflessness and honesty at their work places.

“True service to God is honest dealings with fellow human beings. We cannot claim to be followers of the risen Saviour when we are cheating on our spouses, abusing our positions and performing poorly on our jobs.

“Resurrection should teach us that all things can become new, the old things can pass away if we live for Jesus,” he said.

He cautioned Ghanaians against engaging in immorality and over commercialization of the Easter festivity.

At the Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), the Head Pastor, Reverend Richard Ampadu-Duku told Christians to let the resurrection of Christ serve as a guiding principle for them to revive every dead thing in their lives.

“Be determined to bring back to life every dead thing in your lives, be it your vision, dream, business, or interest,” he said.

He asked Christians to be resilient to fight anything trying to kill their destiny prematurely.

The Head Pastor, reminded the public that there were scriptural examples for people who have lost hope to re-examine their situation, no matter how ugly their circumstances and cited the Shunammite woman in the Bible who responded “it is well” even when her son was dead.

Rev Ampadu-Duku indicated that through her faith, the Prophet Elisha brought her son back to life and therefore death.

He led the congregation to pray for the Country leaders and the prosperity of the nation.
