I will eradicate poverty – Aspiring MP

Mr Adams Nuhu Timbile, Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Candidate (NPP) for the Wa West Constituency, has told his constituents to expect a positive change in their lives if he becomes their Member of Parliament.

The aspiring MP said he was passionate about eradicating poverty and ignorance and had initiated a number of interventions through his non-governmental organization aimed at giving hope to the people to fight the dual canker of poverty and ignorance in the district.

The interventions include the provision of support to farmers to plough their fields, organized credits for petty traders and small grants to students to purchase educational materials for their studies.

Mr Timbile said this when he interacted with the Ghana News Agency after his acclamation by the delegates at the Wa West constituency primary of the NPP at Wechiau, the capital of the Wa West District.

The new parliamentary candidate holds a first degree in Administration (Accounting option) from the University of Ghana and is currently a level three hundred student of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Professional Examination.

Mr Timbile said in 2001, when the NPP took power in the midst of depression, the party put people on paid jobs and lifted thousands out of poverty, resulting in their renewed mandate in 2004.

“We witnessed massive direct investment inflows and brought the National Heath Insurance, Capitation grant, School Feeding Programme, National Youth Employment Programme, Free medical care for pregnant women, MASLOC and the creation of new districts, with Wa West being one of them”.

He asked what had become of these legacies the NPP regime left behind, as the people were now facing “hunger, disappointment and hopelessness”, and hoping that the National Democratic Congress government would fulfil the promises it made to them.

He said “Election 2012 must be an occasion and the vehicle for the realization of their dreams and hopes and aspirations.
