Dormaa-East to enforce bye-laws on building plans
Members of the Dormaa-East District Assembly in the Brong-Ahafo Region have unanimously adopted a resolution mandating the Assembly to enforce its bye-laws on compliance to building plans by landlords.
The Assembly would therefore issue Certificate of Occupancy to landlords upon completion of their houses.
The Assembly took the step at its first meeting at Wamfie the District capital to constitute sub-committees on Monday.
During discussions, the District Chief Executive, Mr Isaac Kofi Kyeremeh complained about the deviation of some landlords from building plans in the District.
Mr Kyeremeh explained that some landlords failed to make provision for basic components such as toilet and bathrooms when constructing their houses.
He said the situation did not only violate laid down building plans but also posed health hazards to residents.
Mr Kyeremeh said with the emergence of cholera in parts of the country, it behoved the Assembly to take measures to prevent any such communicable diseases from affecting the people.
The Assembly has therefore warned all prospective landlords to build their houses strictly in line with the building plans approved and endorsed by the town Planning office and the District Assembly.
