Ghana Cycling team to participate in Boucle du Coton tour
The Ghana National Cycling team are scheduled to participate in this year’s edition of the Boucle du Coton Cycling tour from 16-22 May in Burkina Faso.
The tournament serves as a preparatory test for the Ghanaian team to make the average qualifying speed ahead of the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique later in the year.
A statement from the Ghana Cycling Association copied to GNA Sports said seven cyclists will represent the country at the six-day event, which will feature teams from France, Algeria, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire.
Team Ghana’s line-up include Emmanuel Taylor of River Park Club, Emmanuel Obour – City Migro, Kenneth Ameyaw – River Park (Sunyani), Joseph Kudakpor – Die Hard Club, Stephen Kabu – All Stars Club, John Zormelo – Young Stars Club and Benjamin Logo Adom of River Park Cycling Club (Sunyani).
“Boucle du Coton” is an annual cycling event which is organized by the Cotton industry in Burkina Faso and has been endorsed by the world cycling body, International Cycling Union (UCI).
Meanwhile, the team is expected to leave for Burkina Faso on Saturday, May 14.
