Fire Service should escort cargo trucks transporting chemicals- Fire Officer
Mr Gilford Tetteh Adams, Tema Regional Fire Officer on Friday underscored the need for the Ghana National Fire Service to escort cargo trucks with toxic materials on Ghana’s highways safely out of the country’s borders.
Mr Adams who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema expressed the hope that this watchdog role of the Fire Service would go a long way to forestall any calamity in the event of an explosion or spillage of toxic substances.
He appealed to owners of warehouses at the ports to put in place proper housing regulations by going in for fire certifications, extinguishers and hydrants and supplying their employees with protective clothing.
Mr Adams advised landlords who were in the habit of converting their residential apartments into warehouses to desist from the practice since that would be a recipe for disaster.
