TEWU says discussions on 15% retention ongoing
The Teachers an Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of the TUC said on Tuesday that discussions between government agencies and the Union on the payment of the 15 per cent retention premium to non-teaching personnel was still ongoing.
It was for this reason that payment could not be effected at the end of April, a letter to all members of the Union signed by Mr D. Ayim Antwi, general secretary of TWU, said.
The letter said the last meeting held on May 12 between TEWU and the Government side was not conclusive and they agreed to meet again on May 19 in the hope of attaining agreement on the matter.
The government side comprised the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare.
“The outcome of the upcoming meeting with the government side will be immediately conveyed to our rank and file. We appeal to all to exercise the utmost restraint,” the said.
