Nkoranza South urged to re-open brick and tile factory
Mr Johnson Gyimah, a businessman from Nkoranza, has urged the Nkoranza South District Assembly to re-activate the brick and tile factory at Asuano in the district to offer employment for the youth.
The factory was among development projects constructed in Nkoranza by the European Union (EU) in 1990 when the District Assembly realized clay deposits in the area was good for the project.
Mr Gyimah said people were employed to work at the factory for some years, but it was closed down for unknown reasons.
He made the appeal while sharing his experience with some youth from Nkoranza, who recently returned from Libya in Nkoranza, at the weekend.
Mr Gyimah advised the returnees not to feel dejected in life but rather they should engage in income-generating activities and noted that there was risk in irregular migration.
Pastor Wisdom Adukpo of the Assemblies of God Church in Nkoranza North District urged the Government to financially support the returnees to enable them to start businesses of their own.
He said, “Life is really terrible for irregular migrants abroad as such travelers always have to stay away from public places for fear of repatriation”.
The pastor suggested to the returnees to embark on projects such as grass-cutter rearing, piggery, livestock breeding, poultry and crop farming to enable them to enjoy peaceful living in Ghana their own country.
