AGI endorses INTEGRITI’s CSR publication for corporate Ghana

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana’s most influential business association has endorsed Integriti Media’s Corporate Social Responsibility, (CSR) publication for companies in Ghana.

The publication christened: “Ghana CSR Diary 2011” will be an annual publication of corporate social responsibility activities of companies in Ghana.

It will help to propagate socially responsible activities executed by companies and encourage them to do more for society.

This was contained in a statement issued and copied to Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Tuesday.

Mr Seth Twum-Akwaboah, Executive Director of the Association, said “AGI supports and encourages Ghanaian companies to implement socially responsible activities in their communities and when this is done, we encourage its publication to serve as examples for others to follow.

The Ghana CSR Diary will be a catalogue of who is who in implementing socially responsible activities that impact Ghana and Ghanaians.”

CSR activities that would be published include charity donations to the less privileged, special community projects, projects (including technical assistance) to help public and non-governmental organisations, product innovation that is socially beneficial, in-house projects that enhance development and capacity of staff or their immediate families and many other impacting social initiatives.

Mr Kojo Olabode-Williams, Communications Consultant and Project Advisor for the publication said: “The publication will contain scholarly CSR articles, which will engender more awareness about the dynamics of CSR and the fact that business obligations in recent times, are broader than mere profit maximisation.”

“Every socially responsible company in Ghana should identify with this laudable project and show that they uphold CSR values and practices. Soon, and in collaboration with local and international stakeholders, highly publicised star-ratings would be accorded to companies, based on their CSR performance.”

The maiden edition of the ‘not-for-sale’ magazine will be published and launched in October this year.

It will be distributed freely to media houses, business associations, corporate institutions, government and non-governmental organisations and agencies, international development partners, embassies, educational institutions and many public places such as hotels and airlines.
