FDB arrests herbalist for producing unauthorized concoctions
A herbalist, Tony Ahorsu, has been arrested and handed over to the Police for allegedly producing and selling unauthorised herbal concoctions, which served as an immune booster.
The herbalist, operating behind the Paloma Hotel in Accra, was arrested by the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) in the company of two Police officers, and would appear in court on Wednesday, June 8.
Officers from the Drug Inspectorate Division of the FDB accompanied by the Police on Tuesday inspected the premises; a wooden structure and expressed disgust about the sight of the place.
When the team visited the premises, the spectacle was that of maggots competing with the products for space, bottles filled with concoctions packed on the floor and the stench at the place was unbearable.
Mr James Lartey, Communications Officer of FDB told Ghana News Agency that the Board had complaints from customers who had patronised the products but did not like the smell and particles of the preparation.
“The place is so stinky, dirty and such a place can never be a manufacturing place for herbal preparation. The health of the people must be considered,” he added.
