Kwesi Nyantakyi re-elected as GFA President

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has been re-elected for a second term of office.

Nyantakyi was elected by popular acclamation at the GFA’s Extraordinary Congress held on Friday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, in the Dangbe West District of the Greater Accra Region.

He has been mandated to steer the affairs of the country’s soccer governing body for a further four-years after a seemingly success during his first tenure.

In a ceremony that lasted a little over half an hour, the sole candidate was endorsed by Congress after an official of the Electoral Commission (EC) read out the declaration in conformity with Article 28 of the Statutes of the GFA.

There was no opposition from the House following the declaration by the EC Official, and thereafter the President was deemed to have been duly elected.

The Extraordinary Session will pass for the briefest in the history of the Association as responses trailed after the acceptance speech of the President-elect.

The session started with 72 delegates, 11 more than a quorum before others trickled in.

In attendance was a delegation from the Togolese Football Federation (TFF), who presented a solidarity message on behalf of the TFF.

Nyantakyi assumed the hot seat for the first time in December 2005.
