BONABOTO donates computers to Bolgatanga Nursing Training College

The Association of Citizens of the Bolgatanga, Nabdam, Bongo, and Tongo areas (BONABOTO) in the Upper East Region at the weekend donated eleven computers and accessories to the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College.

Presenting the items to the Management of the School at Bolgatanga, the Regional Chairman of BONABOTO, Mr Didacus Afegra said his outfit was much touched when the School appealed to the Association that one of the major problems confronting it was the absence of computers which undermined the pursuit of Information Communication and Technology.

He noted that the computers formed part of a consignment that were donated by the United Kingdom Branch of BONABOTO.

Mr Afegra noted that BONABOTO through its Education Assistant Fund has supported a number of deprived students who would have dropped out of school especially those who lost their parents.

He said the Health Outrage programme initiated by BONABOTO to post health professionals to the region to help address the shortage of health personnel would be institutionalised and would involve the district assemblies the Health Directorates.

Mr Afegra said plans were far advanced to establish credit unions in all the BONABOTO areas to help improve upon the living standards of the people.

“People will be encouraged to go into mango tree cultivation which will also serve as livelihood incomes… and also help reduce desertification, which is a major problem in the region. BONABOTO has already secured 2000 seedlings to be given out to farmers who will be interested to commence the project.”

The Regional Chairman disabused the notion being speculated by a section of the society that BONABOTO was a political organisation and was out to victimise strangers, stressing that the organisation was development oriented and sought to promote the welfare of all without being biased or discriminatory.

He however warned that there were some people who have been parading themselves as BONABOTO members and harassing people and stressed that such people would be made to face the full rigours of the law when they are arrested.

The Principal of the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College, Mr Moomen Mac Musah commended BONABOTO for the kind gesture and appealed to other organisations to come to the aid of the school to provide it with adequate classrooms, furniture, and sanitation facilities.
