Mamfe Presby JHS appeals for computers
The headmaster of Mamfe Presbyterian Junior High School, Mr Edward Osei Agyeman has appealed to old students of the school to support the school with computers.
He said the school has a furnished computer laboratory with only one computer for the 120 pupils of the school.
Mr Agyemang made the appeal at the fifth open day of the school to raise funds to acquire computers for the school, it was held at Mamfi-Akuapem.
He said in the modern society, one could not effectively compete on the job market without being a computer literate and therefore the school needed the computers to provide the pupils of the school the basic knowledge in computer.
Mr Agyeman appealed to the friends of the school, old students, members of the Parent/Teacher’s Association of the school and all stake holders in education to support the school to acquire some computers.
Ms Sophia Agyekum, the senior prefect of the school praised the teachers of the school for their dedication to duty but regretted that they the pupils always do not demonstrate such seriousness while in school.
She therefore promised on behalf of her colleagues to put in more efforts to perform better and said they the pupils had decided to go the homes of their colleagues who have stop coming to school because they could not get daily pocket money for school, to plead with their guardians and parents to support them to enable them return to school.
The Chairman of the function, Bafour Asare Manteaw, Atipehene of Mamfe-Akuapem appealed to parents in the area to take a keen interest in the education of their children.
He explained that, it is only children whose parents neglect them that go wayward and therefore advised parents in the area to be interested in the education of their children.
