Innovative businesses in Africa have a chance to win $15,000 award at AgriBusiness 2011
EMRC and the Rabobank Foundation have launched an award to encourage business innovators in Africa. The award which carries a $15,000 cash prize will be given to the winner during the AgriBusiness Forum 2011 to be held in Johanesburg, South Africa October 16-19, 2011.
A press release issued by EMRC, and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com says four finalists will be selected and invited to present their projects during a special session to an audience of 500 people. The audience is composed of interested partners and investors from Africa, Europe, USA, India and beyond.
“The US$15,000 award will be presented at the Gala Evening of the AgriBusiness Forum 2011 to the entry that promises the highest level of economic and social impact for their immediate communities,” it says.
“We’re particularly hoping to discover cooperative projects that truly make an impact on economic development and food security at the local, national or regional levels, whereby value chain partners can be integrated,” the sponsors of the award were cited as saying in the release.
EMRC is a non-profit International Association composed of a network of entrepreneurs, financiers, consultants and officials based throughout the world and Rabobank Foundation focuses on establishing co-operative savings and loan systems with small farm holders and producer organisations.
