Relief items are for only those affected by disaster – NADMO
Mr Sylvester Azantilow, Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), in charge of Administration, on Wednesday advised those who had not been affected by the floods not to collect relief items at the distribution centres.
“Most often people who have not been hit by disasters take advantage of the situation to take relief items from the NADMO office,” he said.
Mr Azantilow made the remarks when Menergy International Limited, an offshore oil field and logistic service company, presented 200 bags of rice worth GH¢7,000 to support victims of the recent floods in the Eastern and Volta regions.
He said NADMO was to give support and satisfaction to those hit by disaster in one way or the other.
Mr Azantilow expressed his gratitude to Menergy International Limited and assured them that items would go to the right place. He appealed to other victims to exercise patience since all of them would be taken care of.
Presenting the items, Right Reverend Samuel Norye Mensah, Chairman of the Board of Menergy International Limited, said the nation was just like the human being and that if one part was suffering it affected the other parts.
“If today these two regions are suffering we have to help, hence Menergy is poised to bring relief to humanity,” he said.
